Heavily inspired by classic 2D platformers of the early and mid-90s like Super Mario Bros 3, DKCountry, and Kirby’s Adventure, Super Ubi Land will show you the love for the classic games with a fresh look.
The Evil Dr. Terrestrial will stop at nothing to keep Ubi imprisoned on Climate Island. Ubi’s Quest: fight past hordes of enemies, collect the pieces to his spaceship, defeat Dr. Terrestrial, and return safely to his home planet.
This is the setting for this new game that is coming to PC, Mac, Linux.
Super Ubi Land has also caught the attention of Nintendo and Nintendo has recently approved them (Notion Games) as official developers for the WiiU console. Therefore there will also be a version of the game available for the WiiU as a downloadable title through the Nintendo WiiU eShop.
The game is easy to pick up, but tough to master. The game comes with awesome combos that can be achieved by slaying multiple enemies.
You will travel through four different worlds. Each world will have their own set of levels to complete. You will be able to make friends along the way and complete side quests to unlock hidden areas, extra characters and new music.
The storyline will be told by the use of hand-drawn illustrations.
On the end of each world there will be a boss. The boss fights are very challenging. Make sure you collect enough 1Ups to make a chance at these strategically advanced boss fights to win the level and world, if not it is back to square.
Along with the secrets, the game will have secret cheat codes, secret doorways about and ofcourse easter eggs that you will be able to find somewhere in the game – they won’t tell you where though.
Every asset is hand drawn by the developers and the swingy catchy soundtrack are inspired by Yoshi’s Story, Animal Crossing, the Katamari series, Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker and more. They are the typical 16-bit tunes but with the addition of the newer way of mixing off sound. I heard even a little dub-step!
The developers consists of a team of three awesome people with a lot of experience in their own area’s, under the name Notion Games LLC. The WiiU port is being developed by Maestro Interactive Games.
At 5000 dollars they can produce the whole game for PC.
At 7500 dollars they can add voice narration and additional sound effects.
At 10.000 dollars they can add Mac and Linux support.
Everything over that amount will just add more features to the game and a better WiiU experience.
The WiiU game is coming, but could be delayed as they have to re-program the entire game using a different engine (and this project is being done by another studio).
This looks like a very nice game. It will surely sell well on WiiU when it comes out. They are also on Greenlight on Steam (so vote!).
If you also think that this game will be a game you want to play, then please pledge for Super Ubi Land!
