Although Mojang announced previously on their Minecon event that their next release would be in January, there was anyway a small update last week for MineCraft.
Because of christmas and new year, they couldn’t wait any longer with releasing the 1.4.6 patch for Minecraft (PC/Mac/Linux).
Minecraft 1.4.6 has the following features:
– Added fireworks
– Added enchantable books
– A lot of enchantments have been tweaked
– A Christmas surprise
– Added option to enable touchscreen input for buttons and inventory
– Many issues have been fixed!
Note that if you play regularly on an online multiplayer Minecraft server, that these servers often run Bukkit instead of the original Mojang Minecraft Server. The Bukkit server updates have since today come to a beta version.
It’s good possible that your server has already been updated, but if not you will have to keep playing 1.4.5 for that. If you already updated your client, you can use MCNostalgia to roll-back to an earlier version. You can also keep a copy of versions yourself, which you can read more about here.
The redstone update (1.5) is planned for a release in early 2013.
I am looking forward to the Fireworks in Minecraft, and I really wonder what this Christmas surprise is about…
