Guild Wars 2 – A new event and new items

[intro]

Today some Guild Wars 2 news about a new item type that appeared in the Black Trading Company (the ingame diamond vanity items shop) and about an upcoming event.

First the new item(s) in the ingame shop. A long awaited functionality really. For 250 diamonds a piece (or 1000 diamonds for 5) you can change your hairstyle. The even better version is the total makeover kit for 350 diamonds a piece (or 1400 diamonds for 5).

When you received the item and have taken it to your inventory, you can right double click it to use it and then a new type of interface pops up in which you can change the settings. For a hair change, you can change the style of hair and the colour of it.

For a total makeover you can do rather a lot for the pretty low price (350 diamonds is about 4 euro). You can change your hair, face, size and even your gender. You can change everything that you could do at the character creation screen, the clothing colours you can change anyway already ingame. This does however not include a name change. For a namechange an additional vanity item will come available in the diamond shop soon.

Note that this item is account bound, so you can use it on any character. If you already placed it in your own bag, then run to the bank and put it in the bank for your other characters to get access to it. The item doesn’t get consumed until you press the ‘apply changes’ button on the Makeover kit interface.

To see this in action, here’s a video of another GW2 player who tried it out:

On a different note, ArenaNet has announced the coming of Wintersday, a new event which will run from the 14th of December 2012 until the 3rd of January 2013. Wintersday is the celebration of toys for children of Tyria. Tyria’s famous toymaker Tixx will be traveling to all major cities to hand out toys with his massive airship.

To quote Guild Wars 2’s Wintersday website:
The nights may be long and dark, but Tyrians of all races keep joy alive during the ancient holiday of Wintersday. While each race celebrates Wintersday in their own unique way, children all over Tyria share a common love of one thing: toys. This year the city of Lion’s Arch will host the asuran Toymaker Tixx as their special Wintersday guest of honor. Before Tixx arrives in Lion’s Arch in his massive airship toy workshop, he’ll visit every major city in Tyria to deliver Wintersday toys and holiday cheer.
