Gaming today vs gaming in the past

It has come to my attention that gamers today are all too focused about console wars, Instead of just sticking to their console and buying the games they like, people these days find the need to bash other consoles just for the heck of it.

Just as a reminder every console has their strength and weaknesses. We should respect each individual with their choice instead ranting online bashing the living daylights out of them.

I have been a hardcore gamer for 21 years nothing disgusts me more than the ranting, the flaming and not at least the bitching on the web today.

What defines a hard core gamer? In my eyes a hardcore gamer is someone who devotes their time and money into any game of their choice, no matter how big or small, how sweet or how downright violent, no matter what genre. No matter how good looking or how retro the game is. We play video games because we gamers play what we play!

Peace out

It’s a month of game releases

It seems to me that all the game developing companies have saved their important releases for the last few months of the year. It’s november and the biggest releases are coming (or have come just this weekend) out on PC, Xbox360 and PS3.

For example, Battlefield 3, Call of Duty MW3 have come out last week. Also on the end of the week came the newest release of The Elder Scrolls series: Skyrim. Next week we see Assassins Creed, Halo, Saints Row on the 15th. Then at the 17th the official release of MineCraft. On the 18th for the Nintendo fans the release of Zelda: Skyward Sword and on the 3ds come Super Mario 3D Land and Super Mario Kart 7. And that is just the top of the iceberg, because there are multiple games releasing this week. Just check your local pre-order store on this one.

Also due to release this year are Star Wars The Old Republic (mmo) and we hope Torchlight 2. We do not know if Blizzard will release their Diablo 3 this year or next year.

All huge games however for many hours of gameplay. Perhaps also a good idea, as the winter is starting, many cold hours to fill with gaming on the couch or behind your pc.

This weekend my partner is playing Skyrim, in the wait for our pre-order on Zelda. I am awaiting the release of mainly MineCraft, but ofcourse also Torchlight, which has currently an unknown release date. We both have also pre-ordered SWTOR and might enter this game on early access.

Note for those who have done a pre-order on SWTOR with early access: if you want to make a chance on early game access, you better put that pre-order code into your STWOR account as soon as possible. There are sources saying that the date of entrance affect your chance into pre-access.

We will try to write our experiences here with each of the games we play. We have an xbox360, a Wii, a 3DS and two powerful gaming PC’s to help us in this.
